Swimwear Buying Guide
Bathing suits come in an array of styles that alter each season according to trends and fashion. It's important to know the features and benefits of each style, as some can assist in enhancing your figure, whilst others may draw attention to areas of your body you'd like to avoid! Here's our guide to choosing the perfect swimsuit for you.
Which One is Best for You?
Onepieces
Bandeau Swimsuit

A strapless swimsuit that's great for activities and sun bathing alike. It's perfect for creating a flattering shape for smaller busts. Many bandeau swimsuits come with a detachable strap, offering versatility and added support. The one-piece bandeau style helps to create a more balanced figure appearance.
Traditional Swimsuit
A classic style of swimsuit that's flattering and simple for all shapes. There are variations to the traditional style, such as the cross over back that offers added support, or a halterneck which creates cleavage and emphasizes the bust. Some also have padding at the bust. Many of these swimsuits feature ruched detail across the middle section and at the sides to catch the eye and draw attention away from areas of the body you'd like minimized.
Control Swimsuit
Perfect for someone who needs extra coverage and firm control across the stomach, hips and bottom. The swimsuits are lined with control fabric at the front and back, offering increased support and help to flatten lumps and bumps. There are a number of different styles, including a classic shape with side ruching and reinforced side panels, a twist front style and a cross front.
Bikinis
Bandeau Bikini

A bandeau bikini top is without straps. Support is provided through the 2 cups and the bra-like strap across the back. There are several variants of the bandeau style, including a flattering twist style, as well as a choice of detachable straps and padded cups. The bandeau bikini emphasises the bust area as it's a tube style shape.
Triangle Bikini
Triangular in shape, this style of bikini is quite revealing and offers less coverage than other swimsuit styles. As the triangle accentuates the breast area, it's a style suited to women with a smaller bust. Straps usually tie around the neck and at the back, creating a halterneck style. Some triangle bikinis are padded to emphasise the bust area and create shape. The halterneck style is a variation of the triangle, offering more support, and often, wider straps. Perfect for women with a full chest as most styles are available up to a DD cup, and some have padding.
Cup Size bikini
Some swimwear comes in cup sizes, like bras. This style is great for women with larger busts as the bikini top has underwiring and padding for greater shape and support, or alternatively enhancement of a smaller bust. Like bras, the cup size bikini usually ranges from B to G cups.
Tankini
Cut like a camisole, this style comes with wide or thin straps and is great for swimming. The top covers your stomach for a flattering, streamlined look. Another variation is the Bandeau Tankini which is a strapless version.
Bottoms
Bikini Bottoms
A standard shape similar to the lingerie bottom, offering full coverage. Often adorned with decorative rings, charms or beading.
Side tie off Bottom
Shaped like a standard Bottom but with tie sides that offer a more flattering and feminine look. A great choice if you want to draw attention away from your thighs or stomach. If you want something more revealing go for a string tie, otherwise a wide tie for more coverage. The tie sides offer adjustability and can be altered according to your individual size and preference.
Fold Down Bottom
The fold on a bikini Bottom works in a few ways. It can be folded up to provide more coverage or folded down to create interest and texture. Ruffles and frills are often used on this style to act as an attention drawer.
Boy Short Bottoms
Hipster cut shorts that cover part of the hips, thighs and stomach, while still appearing as a two-piece swimsuit if worn with a bikini top or tankini. The shorts are perfect for women who require adequate coverage. The boy leg style is a smaller version of the classic style.
Colours and Patterns
Patterns are great for women of all sizes as they cover all sorts of areas that you may want to divert attention away from! Dark colours are slimming, while pale hues, metallic and shiny fabrics can exaggerate your size. Selecting a swimsuit that is lined helps with reducing transparency.
All our swimwear is suitable for wearing in water, but some fabrics are more suited for seawater and chlorinated pools. Swimsuits decorated with beading and embellishment are more likely to deteriorate more quickly in seawater or chlorinated water, so perhaps save them for sunbathing and the occasional dip!
